Wickman

Meghan

RN, BSN, OCN, CBCN

I'm Meghan Wickman, an oncology nurse with nearly 20 years of experience caring for people with cancer, much of that time focused specifically on breast oncology.

Throughout my career, I've seen how much of the burden of navigating cancer can fall on the patient. Suddenly you're keeping track of appointments, test results, referrals, symptoms, treatment decisions, and questions—all while trying to process a breast cancer diagnosis and continue living the rest of your life.

That's a tremendous mental load, and I don't think patients should have to carry it by themselves.

Why I Started Breast Oncology Care of California

I've seen how valuable it is to have someone experienced in your corner—someone who understands your care, knows your story, and is paying attention to what comes next.

That became even more personal when my mom was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. She was highly educated, independent, and receiving excellent care at Massachusetts General Hospital, yet the process was still overwhelming. After appointments, we would talk through what had been discussed, clarify the next steps, and make sense of everything once she'd had time to process it.

It reinforced something I'd seen throughout my nursing career:

Excellent medical care and having someone help you navigate that care are not the same thing.

That's why I created Breast Oncology Care of California.

Someone in Your Corner

My goal is to make breast cancer care feel a little more manageable.

You don't have to be the only person keeping track of everything.

I'll help you understand where you are, what comes next, what you're waiting for, and what questions you want answered—so you can spend a little less energy managing your cancer care and a little more energy on everything else that matters to you.

Outside of Nursing

Outside of nursing, I’m a wife and mom of two and love spending as much time as possible outdoors. You’ll often find me running, working in my garden, or taking care of our chickens. California has been home since 2010, and the active, outdoor lifestyle here is a big part of who I am. I also value the quieter things—time with family, journaling, and finding ways to stay grounded in the midst of a busy life.

The overlapping circles represent connection—the relationship between a patient and their nurse navigator, and the many pieces of cancer care that need to come together along the way. Their intersection reflects the support, clarity, and continuity at the heart of Breast Oncology Care of California.
